Arnaud is a Debian Developer mainly active in the DebianOnMobile team, working towards making mobile-friendly software available in Debian:
* essential middleware (ModemManager)
* graphical environments (Phosh, Plasma Mobile...)
* mobile-first applications
He also maintains Mobian, a Debian derivative providing packages not ready for Debian yet (mostly apps/kernels with downstream patches) and device-specific tweaks and metapackages, as well as ready-to-flash disk images for a selection of supported devices.
Accepted Talks:
Twisting Debian for running on Mobile Devices
Over the past 5 years, the DebianOnMobile and Mobian teams have worked towards making it possible to run Debian on (a few) smartphones and tablets. This includes packaging mobile-friendly software for Debian, but also requires significant infrastructure plumbing in order to generate ready-to-flash images for supported devices, with a strong focus on automation.
This talk will go through the tooling used by the DebianOnMobile team and Mobian, including Salsa CI-based pipelines, image generation scripts and stable kernel upgrades. Mobile devices being “just” another class of embedded devices, the speaker will also highlight how those tools and workflows could be applied to many different embedded systems, easing both hardware enablement and image generation.
