Making Debian amazing on Qualcomm IoT boards and hence on other IoT boards too!

Speaker: Loïc Minier

Track: Embedded Applications

Type: BoF (45 minutes)

Support for Qualcomm-based IoT hardware has steadily improved in Linux, mesa and many upstream projects, yet a number of papercuts remain to make it easy to use or productize Debian on Qualcomm and other IoT boards

Depending on attendees interest, topics to be discussed would include:

  • The spectrum of boot architectures used on Qualcomm hardware to boot Linux and their Debian support status
  • The kind of silicon specific userspace software that is currently in Debian to support Qualcomm hardware and its status
  • The opportunity to create preinstalled images for IoT hardware to ease installation
  • When to include boot firmware/pre-Linux software in IoT images, which section to use
  • What kind of user experience and installer experience if any should Debian offer on IoT devices
  • Whether Debian should offer some production-style OSTree images
  • The state of open source enablement for misc Qualcomm hardware features
  • The state of flashing tools for Qualcomm hardware

Join this BoF and share your thoughts on what would make Debian fantastic on IoT boards from Qualcomm and others!
