Wow, it’s been 10 years since the last talk about Tails at DebConf! In the meantime, Tails has survived, evolved, and thrived despite challenges. Eventually, last year we have merged with Tor. This merge provides a real-life example of how uniting forces can empower people to resist digital oppression, which is critical in times when civil society is running out of digital safe spaces, in ways that are eroding democracy and threatening personal safety.

Thanks to its Debian roots, Tails & Tor are making privacy tools more accessible for activists, journalists, and everyday people worldwide. Conversely, Tails is exposing more and more people to Free Software and Debian, often for the first time on the desktop… and trying to give back by contributing relevant work to Debian.
